In networking, there are three major functions that if done properly will help you win the race of getting more business.

1.Show Up - Most people assume that if they simply join an organization, get listed in a directory, post a profile in a social community online or attend every once and a while, that they will instantly get business pouring in. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work especially if their competition is actively involved. When it comes to networking, it's an interactive sport. Your participation is critical if you ever expect to get a return on your investment.

2.Follow Up
- Even if you meet 50-100 people each week and you attend every event possible and you're on a ton of social networks, if you never follow up, you'll never move past the initial introduction. Don't assume someone will "sell themselves" on your products or service and call immediately to buy something. If you want something to happen, you must take the initiative to reconnect and offer continuous follow up. That means, to follow up over and over, not just one time.

3.Build Relationships
- The secret to getting more business is simple. Get people to fall in love with you, to believe in you, and to know that you will take care of their business. The more you share of yourself and offer value to someone else, the more likely they are to remember you when it's time for them to need what you offer. When you make them feel important and value their relationship, they will become one of your "Marketing Messengers" delivering your business to people they know in their network and send you referrals.

All three of these are the keys that will help you create the Networking Trifecta and generate more business than you ever imagined.
