"If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples, then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas." - George Bernard Shaw

Collaboration is powerful when it's done in the spirit of mutual success. This is especially important for solo professionals because when we find the right collaborative partners we think bigger, achieve more, and have more fun!
Below are 7 ways you can improve the collaborative spirit within your business and achieve more success:
1. Get an accountability partner. Find a like-minded individual to check in with daily, or at least several times per week. When you have specific tasks you're working to complete and have to report back to someone, it increases your odds of success. This person doesn't have to share your industry or serve the same target market.
2. Join or create a mastermind group. Mastermind groups facilitate the flow of ideas and create a supportive but accountable environment. Your group may be self-moderated, or moderated by an outside person who is not participating in the group's activities.
3. Create your primary circle of influence. Out of your many connections, who are the top 10 that you can collaborate with for mutual success? These 10 people must share your values and have the same desire for collaborative spirit.
4. Focus on giving before receiving. Collaborative partnerships are a balance of giving and receiving. But always focus on how you can provide value for the other person.
5. Hire a business coach. Sometimes another perspective is necessary for growth. A business coach can make a difference in how you approach and solve a problem or take an idea to fruition.
6. Create joint ventures. Find others who serve similar target markets but with complementary products or services, and create promotions and offerings together.
7. Share your ideas, successes, and disappointments. We all have successes and disappointments, and it creates a true bond with your collaborative partners when you share both - it keeps the ups and downs of business real. Also, don't be afraid to initiate contact and share your ideas; each of us, no matter where we are on our path to success, have something valuable to share with others.
These ideas will help you create a collaborative spirit so you can do more in the world and find business success!
